IndigoBlu Tag Toppers for Topflight Stamps

Hello Topflight Stamp Adventurers! This week the Design Team is playing with all things IndigoBlu. I had so much fun last week creating my tabs for the sideways waterfall that continuing on that exploration seemed to be a good idea. Currently working on teaching an online Junk Journal class & thought, how about making some mixed media tag toppers? The supply list is below. Let's Go! *Affiliate- some of these companies have given me product to use, play & experiment with. The ideas are my own but I tend to work with companies whose products I like so enjoy the inspiration.  **some of these links are affiliate, I receive a small percentage from the company at no cost to you. This helps me deliver free content!

It became all about the tags. I made the toppers but of course they need something to go on top of.  So I added a bit of shenanigans to some tags for my toppers to have a home.

Look at how many cool images IndigoBlu has & these are just a few, go check out Topflight Stamps to see the whole catalog of these beautiful images.

I stamped my images & heat embossed with Burmese Jade embossing powder. I love using emboss to create. It just adds such a pop of something extra.

Here are the images I started with to create my toppers. Most of them were painted with a watercolor palette but you can use whatever you want to cover the images.

For the leaf, Infusions were used. Powder was tapped on a craft sheet & water was spritzed so I could use it as a water color.

Here are my toppers all painted & ready to go.

Now for the tags.

Tag 1: Die cut a tag from patterned paper. Next stamp images around the edges. Add a die cut element that has the same colors. The topper was fussy cut out and adhered to the tag.

Tag 2: So simple but has a big impact. These stamps are from the Shine Bright set. A Ranger tag was the base. The topper was simply painted with watercolor, cut in a rectangular & adhered to a piece of batik fabric. The topper was glued on & then stapled to add that metal interest. The sides of the tag were stamped using the edge of the circle stamp. The quote stamped on white card, cut out & adhered then edged with a pen.

Tag 3: This tag packs a visual punch & bonus is interactive. I started with a size 8 tag that had been cut out with a die cut using patterned paper. The pattern is on the back of the tag & the white front was covered with a piece of Art by Marlene collage paper. The 2 topper pieces from the  Be Different set were used. One was used as the topper.

The larger abstract stamp as a pocket piece. The owl is just tucked into the pocket, I love that the top of the owl's head just peeks out. The quote from the set is stamped at the bottom.

The owl image is colored non-traditional colors & I love that, especially the pop of yellow on his head. This is one of my favorite all time stamps & comes from the set Autumn Nights set. The leaf that was used in Tag 1 as the topper & also the little leaves used as accents are from this set. Just because it is an autumn set does not mean it can't be used for summer.

The flip side of the owl is a journal spot with some doodle pen work. That is it for this week, I hope you get a chance to play along & get inky!

Resin Obsession Book Marks for Journals

Hello Resin fans, I have a full tutorial over on the Resin Obsession blog on making book marks. This is a really fun project that is fairly easy, it just takes a bit of time.

These projects made from different types of paper resin, which I will go through step-by-step. A great way to use up your ephemera pieces, project life cards, tissue paper, book paper etc. I had a lot of fun experimenting to see how the different papers reacted to the resin. I hope you hop on over & join me!!

Harry Potter Shine Bright Page using IndigoBlu

I am having so much fun working in My Favorite Memories Journal. Today I have a page on the Topflight Stamps Blog with a must have stamp set. I love this one!

Here is my fun and inky page, it came together very quickly. Just some background stamping with distress ink using like colors so the effect was subtle.  My title was pop dotted to the page to add dimension. The photo was scanned & sent to my phone, then altered with the Rhonna Designs app. That put the Halloween on my page which gives this stamp set extra life!

The Dumbledore quote was stamped on watercolor paper. I knew I wanted a lightly tinted look. One way to achieve this was using Marvy watercolor markers. They were inked on my craft sheet, diluted with water & applied with a paint brush so the colors blended easily.

The light bulb was heat embossed on some patterned card stock. You can see a bit of background stamping added a touch of grunge.

I also stamped the quote on a journal card from the paper set. Just gives it a whole different look. By changing the background I can use it on a steampunk kind of art journal page or layout.

Here are the other stamps that come in this set. I can't wait to play with them some more. Thanks for joining me today. Be sure to pop over to Topflight for some great prices and lots of stamp designs.

Butterfly Window Art Canvas

I have a bit of a unique project for you today. I am here with my Topflight Stamps blog post & we are playing with IndigoBlu stamps. The team is also participating in the Mix Media Monthly challenge. I am thrilled with how my project turned out & I hope you like it too.

I decided to go with a Photo Mat Art Board project by Crescent. It just was the perfect base for the idea I had in mind.

First off here is the inspiration for this months challenge. That will help you understand the idea I came up with.

The stamp set is Butterfly Collector and you can buy it here. It is made from red rubber and the stamps have wonderful detail. You can see it on the stamped butterflies. If you want to see how I made my background you can check out the process here. I started my board the same way with the only difference being, instead of using stencils I pushed stamps into the gesso. Just clean your stamps with warm water & an old tooth brush immediately following so the paint does not dry in the stamp. One thing I did learn is, to get a crisper image embedded in the gesso, put down a thinner coat.

Sadly I do not have a picture of just the gesso layer- somehow it got deleted. Once my gesso was dry I did the same process as the journal link above, I made a color glaze with 50% acrylic paint 50% acrylic glaze. I painted a layer of paint & let it dry for a minute or so then wiped it back using a baby wipe. I worked on about half the canvas at a time so the paint did not dry fully.

You can see the stamps in the gesso but because it was a bit too thick I lost the detail. Still cool though. If I had the time I could have scrapped the gesso up & reapplied it. I painted the top 2/3rds of the canvas in the black & the bottom in the green (supply list below).

Next step was to cover my gate pieces & heat emboss them. Love how they turned out. I over lapped them on the board to give them even more height. I wanted my garden of flowers to show up so decided to put it next to the fence instead of behind it.

For the flower portion I colored the background of a piece of white card stock with Distress Oxide (DO). I spritzed with some water to activate it & create some splatter. To add the flowers, ink the bottom grass portion with the DO then color in the flowers & stems with multiple color of Distress Marker. These products have a slower dry time so you can make this work. Apply a fine mist of water to activate & stamp. Let that dry & then spritz the bottom grasses a bit to create the softer impressionist look. I stamped the image 2x with a bit of an over lap.

All that is left is assembly. I used Tombo Mono Multi XL to glue everything down. It is easy to use, good & sticky. I also fussy cut some more of the butterflies & the dragonfly then adhered them randomly around my piece. Lastly & I should have done this before assembly I decided to hit the high points with copper paint. I also painted over the cut butterflies with Chandalier Glimmer Glam which gave them some glitter & sealed them to protect them.

The quote did not transfer perfectly because my gesso was too thick but I simply filled it in with a marker. Still looks cool, embedded & like old stone. The butterfly photo is mine, a frequent visitor in my garden. This project will be entered in this months contest. I hope you get a chance to pop over & see all the wonderful inspiration. See you next week!

*Affiliate disclosure I did receive some of these products to create my project. The ideas however are my own and currently all the design teams I am on I love!!
