Making Junk Journal Elements with Eileen Hull by Sizzix

Hello Blogland, today we are going to make junk journal elements using Eileen Hull die cuts by Sizzix. Some are the newest, some are designed for a completely different purpose. This month the teams are working on the theme "Word Soup, tags & pockets". I hope you join in the Facebook Fan club to see all the inspiration of the fans that join in the inspiration train.

Here is my trio of projects. I made an ephemera booklet, a flip up with pockets & tags & a library pocket. There are so many options with Eileen's die cuts & it may surprise you the ones I used.

Flip Up with Pockets

My 1st design was making this element that can be used in a junk journal, mini album or art journal. The front has a pocket that can hold some tickets. Ephemera is from 49th & Market.

Let's Make One:

This fold out came from an unlikely source, the Gift Box with Scallop die. I cut my paper & ended up with these scallop pieces & a label that all come from the die set. The scallops will be used as decoration & the label folded to make the tab.

Here is the main piece from the diecut. Since this is paper it is too light to get scor lines. Simply scor at 3 1/4" & 8 1/4". I put the design side on the inside so it would all be in one direction.

Fold up the bottom piece & down the top piece. Distress the edges & adhere the top small scallop as decoration. Fold the label in half to use as a tab. Adhere the larger scallop as a pocket just gluing on the bottom & the sides.

Next up is to decorate. I am using more ancient products to do this so it gets used! Here is the old Cosmo Cricket word set that I used. This was so quick & easy with the die it would be simple to knock a bunch of them out.

Here is what the inside looks like after jazzing it up. Added some epoxy words that have been in a drawer for 10 years at least. Feels good to put them on a project.

 Library Pocket & Card

Using Eileen's newest die set make for some easy Library Pockets.  This die makes it so easy as it cuts out all the pieces & has choices for tabs & a label.

Here are the pieces I cut from the set as well as the stamps used from Eileen's Maker Forte Snail Mail. Then it was simple assembly, glue on the tabs & fold up the pocket. Add some stamping & the tab. Done.

 Ephemera Pocket Keeper

Using Eileen's Notepad die to make this ephemera pocket booklet was so fun. I see making a few of these to have on my desk for pretty storage for some of my ephemera. Maybe they need a box to put them in? These are covered in 49th & Markets new Tranquility line, plus a few extras from older lines.

I cut 2 covers with this beautiful paper then adhered Redline tape to adhere the spine together.

Here is the cover after adding more of the ephemera. I love how this company has acetate packs that match the different collections. Making the butterfly dimensional and adding the star brads just adds that punch. The paper is gorgeous & with a few added rub-ons like the post mark, just looks fab!

I wanted the pocket to be made of acetate so they would be see through. Why not jazz them up? Ran them through the Tablecloth 3D embossing folder, cut them to fit each side & about 1 3/4" tall. Pulled out the luster wax to hit the high points with.

1st papers from the collection were cut a bit smaller to create a nice border and let the spine work freely. Then the acetate was adhered to the covers using 1/8" Red Liner tape. Now I have nice pocket to put my ephemera in. You could also add a few pages with pockets if you like to add more shenanigans.

The inside cover side has some faux postage made with the Snail Mail die & co-coordinating stamps in the pockets.

The left side pocket has more 49th & Market pieces. The background is both paper & some rub-ons. There is room to add some more tickets & tags as well to have handy for working on projects. Just a pretty way to get organized! Thanks for joining me today. Make sure you check out the inspiration my team mates are coming up with & I hope you join in on the fun!!
