Let's Get Scrappy!

Some layouts for you today! This first one is a super fast splat it on the page layout.
I used more of my stash, a tag I had played with ink & beeswax, strip of paper, a background stamp, rub-ons from years & years ago. Threw on some new embellies and voila done! I almost want to just make 10 of these with photos over the years to just slam out some layouts. I am a bit behind-shocker. Goal 250 layouts-I am at 32. Good new is I have already done more than all of last year so...next up:

While on vacation my boys were playing air hockey on their iphone. Amazing how times have changed. I used to play air hockey with friends all the time as a kid. Of course it was done on a big table top game. The boys having such a good time & entertaining all of us, I wanted to document this!
Do any of you have kits that have been sitting on your shelf for years? You look at the layout & say-"wow that is not my style anymore". Well there are no rules to say you have to make it exactly as the example. I was a member of Club Scrap & have tons of pizza boxes lining my shelves. With my 5 layouts a week goal, & use my stash resolutions for this year I decided this would be the perfect way to hit 2 of my resolutions with 1 stone.   Problem is the layout was very straight & tidy. Unfortunately I don't have the original to show you. Here is my finished page. Basically I added the title/ phone & changed the bottom around to make it less linear.

I added some stencil paint lids from Crafters Workshop, word from Redlead and the cool Blueprint phone stamp from Tim Holtz. Lucky for me I have both sizes so I was able to randomly stamp the smaller one. My favorite part of this layout is the large phone. I used pen & watercolor to paint it, pop dots to give it lift & it looks so cool on the page.
Now go get scrappy!!!

Mini Art Journal

I took an awesome class from Dina Wakley (chunky background book) back in September 2012 in NYC. It was super fun, nice & inky-just the way I like my classes. I have been slowly filling the pages with art. It Has turned into a little mini-scrap art journal.
The closed book measures 3". It is a perfect place to put my Hipstamatic photos. When I am printing out my Project Life pages I often have space left on the photo paper & randomly pop in favorite 2x2 pics so I am not wasting the paper. They are slipped in the book & when I have a few spare moments I complete a page. Just total happiness! Make some art today!

Puzzle Me This Batman

A fun art journal page to be sure, in my quote re-purpose book. I started with modeling paste & harlequin stencil. I can't seem to stop using this! Lots of random spraying, one thing I like to do is use a lighter spray over the pasted section to create a light spot that adds to the dimension. Stamping randomly, embossing with that cool aged embossing enamel by Stampendous. Gesso with stencils to lighten the page up. Perfect stamp for this page-puzzle piece stamps by Unity.

I took some of my junk art journal leftovers & used those with the stamps. Finished it off with an embossed owl-too cute & my Dr. Seuss quote.
I find my puzzler is quite sore some days as my brain never stops so these were the perfect words for my quote journal. What are you working on today????

Follow Up Friday #3 & Inspired By!

Today's installment is an inky mess'o fun. I have wanted to use a more inky look on my scrap book pages. I mean I use ink regularly but I wanted to up the quota. I came across this Aussie artist's blog thepaintbrushgoesspottie & she gave me the perfect opportunity to both follow up#3 & be inspired by#2. I love this layout just covered in stenciling, stamping etc. I pretty much stuck to her original which is rare for me.
Usually my scraplifts end up completely different than the original. This one is more a copy. I thought this was the perfect background for a lacrosse photo with it's grungy masculine feel. All I had to do was omit the butterfly & flowers, bam boy layout. My favorite part of this is the circles. It uses one of my favorite shadowing techniques. I used my soft pastels for the first time on this part. I think I like it! I am thinking I may do more artjournal/scrap layouts-stay tuned!
