Happy Halloween!

Another art journal page celebrating my second favorite holiday - Halloween. This was a fun one using distress stains as a background & mists with a stencil. The stamps are more of the awesome fun Dylusions- & Tim Holtz's skeleton which was heat embossed. Boo!

Tag swap!

We had a tag swap at art journal club this month. This was the tag I made. I used 1 of my favorite techniques, I embossed a tag & spritzed it fairly heavily with Glimmer Mist. Next I die cut & embossed the sprockets with metal tape, than alcohol inked them. The balloon was heat embossed & distressed. A piece of tape & my stamped quote - done. The tags I received in the swap were wonderfully done. If I get permission from the designers I will post them!

I was at a crop with some friends & this art journal page just poured out of me. I had soooooo much fun doing it! I was writing that some days I image that this is what the inside of my head looks like. Ideas float along, at other times they bounce around like a game of pong or galaxy.

The background is distress stains. The stamps were inked with StazOn so the color wouldn't run. I painted the images using gelatos, stains & glimmer mist. I love using glimmer mist as a paint. It makes the image all shimmery. The stamps are mainly Dylusions & Oxford Impressions. A neat painting technique I learned from Dyan Reavely (used in the leaves) is to paint with the distress stains in a color -peeled paint & while the stain is still wet add a spot of a different color -forrest moss. The 2 colors blend a little making it look like a highlight.
I love that the skull is popping out of that cool stamp by Stampendous, he is on a pop dot. Gotta love a page that has floating sprockets!!!

Playing with Tissue

I started running again-or at least I am once in a while. Sore feet are making it slow going but I wanted to do a journal page on the topic. I started by decoupage gluing tissue paper down-it had flakes of bright color so it was a good base. To add texture I scrunched the paper a bit when I stuck it down so there are cool lines & crevices. I used glimmer mist & stencils on the background. For the stamping I used distress stains & glimmer mist again to give it a nice shimmer look. I made a pocket out of acetate & used some of the tissue from my shoe box-very cool. The tag & shoes are from 7 gypsies.

Ephemera Page!

I have been collecting ephemera since I can remember. When I was an athlete I would travel & keep ticket stubs, match covers, candy wrappers you name it. Who knew that some 30 years (yikes) later I would have a fairly valid reason for doing so? Problem is I still seem to collect but don't seem to put them on my scrapbook pages... system breakdown. This page was an ode to "Forgotten Treasures". I used crafters workshop stencils & lots of nummy glimmer mist to create my background. The letters were done in Tattered Angels Chalk mist. Basically the rest is a lot of "junk" that I have had sitting waiting for some special reason. Ok so this is not so special but at least it is on a page-finely.
The tag is taped in with 7Gypsies gaffer tape & I glimmer misted the back and put some journaling & added more "junk". None of it makes sense but that is ok too! So go get your stash of "stuff" and get it on a page!

Stencil Holder

I needed a place to put my stencils. I bought 8x8 page protectors (idea from Lisa Hausman) but wanted something to put them in. I started with just a piece of chipboard & went from there. I had great ideas of using the paper as my base because it is beautiful but I got carried away with the ink & stencils which was actually appropriate. The jalopy was chipboard also die cut & embossed, than highlighted with ink. The wheels..are metal & painted with black paint, wiped off & highlighter with copper alcohol ink. I assembled by punching holes & using rings added with ribbon. The journal box is from SimpleStories. To do the word stencil-I cut the words with my cricut & used the negative space & glimmer mist.

The close up of the car has me, with my coffee driving the owl, scardy cat & little birdie. Hee, hee.
