Playing with DIY & Cie Stamp Set Globe Trottier

Hello Blogland, Happy Mix Media Monday!! Today I am playing with DIY & Cie Stamps & Prism Inks for Topflight Stamps. I have a tutorial for you on making a quick background that is great for ATC's, cards, art journal or even a scrapbook page.

I am working on my #the100daysproject again today using a passport art journal book. The pages measure 3.25 x 4.5". I decided to make a travel page as I really need a vacation so making a page helps me dream of it at least.

Start with a piece of card stock, spritz with water & a few spritzes of the Glimmer Mist. Make sure you shake the mist side to side getting that ball that is in it working to move the mica powder. This will also help prevent clogs. The paper will probably curl up, the easiest way to cure this is spritz water on the back side of the paper & then dry with a heat gun, it will flatten as you heat. Love all the shimmer in this product!!

Next I took a stencil & gave it a spritz with the one of the same colors to create a subtle pattern in the background. Hold the bottle about 6" away so you get a fine mist & better image. You can also splatter the piece after with a bit of water to get a splotchy look. Use a paper towel to mop up the water- voila splatter!

I looked at the stamp set I chose & figured out which images would be background & which would be my focus images. With that done stamp the background images in an ink that will show up on the background but not be too strong. Do you ever swatch out your colors? It really helps to give you an idea of the true color of your products. Prism Inks actually has a swatch page that you can print out & stamp all the colors you have. There is also a video on these inks.

The stamp set I chose is by DIY & Cie & is called Globe Trottier. Doesn't it have so many great images? It is a clear silicone stamp set & the images stamp really clearly & detailed even when using a pigment ink like I have here.

I used the honeycomb in Peacock Green & the numbers in Cinnamon Swirl. Stamp lightly & stamp a second time to get an even lighter image. I am loving embossing powder right now so the boarder/edge stamps were done using Golden Rod. *Hot Tip: I used Roasted Coffee to stamp the image before adding the embossing powder, it works well instead of emboss ink & the bonus is, if you miss a spot with the powder, the image will still show.

Now I am ready for the focal images! The main images were stamped, cut out & colored. Everything was adhered down. The quote was embossed with Glistening Glass to make it stand out & adhered with pop dots. That's it for today, thanks for joining me & I hope you get a chance to get inky!! Organizer Using Eileen Hull Gift Box Diecut

Hello Blogland, I have been busy playing with one of Eileen Hull's newest dies from the Sizzix, Chapter 1, 2020 release, the Gift Box w/ scallop. This diecut has the potential to make all sorts of creations.  *Affiliate- some of these companies have given me product to use, play & experiment with. I decided to make an organizer for my cards. I have been creating a lot of cards for junk journals & my planner lately. It is nice to have somewhere to store them that is also pretty!! I could also use this for project life cards, or planner tags etc. I may have to make more as this was pretty simple to do!

Let's get started. First step was to choose this beautiful paper line by Stamperia- Imagine. Cover 2 (6x12) mat board pieces with double sided adhesive & the paper. I wanted my scrapbook paper to be on the inside of my box. This means when running the piece through the Big Shot, put it paper side up. Cut out 2 Gift Boxes pieces.

Bend the scored areas by putting them on the edge of a table and folding. That breaks the paper fibers at the same time, creating a nice score line. Assemble the box so the edges overlap. In this photo you can see the tabs, I cut them off as they aren't needed. At this stage your box will not have a bottom or base to it that comes later.

Arrange the box pieces like this & clip them together putting the cards in the box is an easy way to get the sizing is right.

Mark where the mat board overlaps & should line up & use redline tape to glue them. Make sure the paper is on the inside of the box & plain mat board on the outside.

Next up was to decorate the outside of my box. I started by adding strips of book papers. I used a good glue stick for this like Uhu. It is low moisture so the papers won't warp & neither will the mat board.

Follow this up by adding random stamping using Archival Ink, you want a waterproof ink that will dry permanent.

Time to add the fun stuff!! Tear pieces of tissue paper  & add on with the glue stick. The book paper words & the stamping will show through as tissue is translucent. Peel the white paper from decorative napkins & cut or carefully tear the images you want & add them on as well.

You can also add strips of washi tape to add even more images & really get that junk journal look.

Time to make a base for our box to sit on! Cut a piece of mat board to create the base. I cut mine 7" x 5 1/2", so there would be room to create a lip. I want to be able to place cards that are in progress in front of my box. Cover with paper.

Once walls of the box is done adhere it to the base using redline 1/8" tape along the bottom edges of the box. Place the walls of the box carefully onto the base. The redline tape really creates a secure hold.

I decided to add the scallop piece from the diecut to create interest & added the metal saying. This will help hold cards in front of the box as I work on them. I wrapped some washi tape over to help secure it & leave a nice looking edge.

The clip with more nummy Tim Holtz metal was also added just to give it that extra something, something. You can see here how the base of the box is about a 1/4" larger on the sides to give it more stability & has a 1' shelf so cards can fit there.

Thanks so much for joining me today!! I hope you get a chance to make one of these fabulous organizer boxes. If you do be sure to post a pic in the Eileen Hull Fan Club on Facebook. Mixed Media Monday with PaperArtsy

Hello Topflight Stamps Fans, happy Mixed Media Monday!!! I am back from Creativation 2020. I am posting a lot of the show on my Instagram account which you can find here. It was the usual overwhelm of awesome products, techniques & catching up with friends. Once the products start rolling in to the shop I plan on doing a blog post on the fun we saw!

For today I am doing a quick art journal page in my #the100dayproject book. One of the things that is great about art journal is you can make back grounds in one go, get in the rhythm of that & come back to add stamping, ephemera etc. at a later date.

I started with a deli paper gel print. It was made with stencils, leaving empty space to create a window to the next page. Whatever you put underneath will show through the frosted areas. If you look closely to my project you can see the letters showing through from the scrap book paper that the deli paper was adhered to.

Next the bird was heat embossed with Burmese Jade embossing powder. I like outlining stamps with emboss- it leaves a bolder image that shows up better on a busy art journal page.

Using ink pads on my craft mat with a bit of water to paint the images seemed a good way to go. Mixing in a bit of the Glimmer Mist gave the bird a bit of a shimmer.

Here is a close up of the inking & then some metallic pen was added. The page was finished with some washi tape, ephemera & a quote. Thanks for joining me today, now go get inky!
