Birds of a Feather

Here is a little art journal page I did a la Dyan Reaveley. It was just a fun & funky one using acrylic paint & some black soot stain on the THoltz stamp-I like this effect for background stamps, it has a water color look to it. I painted in the olives (heehee) with glimmer mist. The stamps are Hero Arts. The only thing is I wish the birds were facing each other. I started working with tissue paper lately & I found that is a good way to be able to change your stamp direction! More on that when I finish what I am working on.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Stamp Based Page

I have this cute quirky stamp I got from Stampotique (Daniel Torrente-Heart shirt) & have wanted to use it on a page so I pulled it out & literally designed my layout around it. The background had already been started with various "stamp offs" from left over ink etc used on other pages. I simply spritzed glimmer mist over with some colors that would add a layer not cover the existing images. From my stash I pulled a 7Gypsy tag, heart chipboard piece & used my Memory Box stamp/diecut tag for the journaling. The chipboard has glimmer glam on it to get rid of the stark white look & the tag was distressed. I stamped the image with Archival Ink & colored it in using distress stains as my paint. Simply make a puddle of color on your craft sheet & use it to paint. The journaling is about my kids relationship to each other. Have a great one!

Random Blathering

Ok so I know that is a Donna Downeyism, I just really like the way it sounds. If you like me have a "focus issue" or feel like you ping pong through life going from one thought to another. Maybe this will help. I have learned that sometimes it's ok to just go with it-especially when I am art journaling or don't have a pressing deadline. Here is a photo of what I am working on now. Yes about 5 different things & taking photos (hence the camera clip in). I am going from one to the other as the change of mind hits me. I actually get a lot done this way instead of being frustrated starring at what I am working on, while my brain goes in 50 other directions. I also keep a pad beside me so I can jot down my random thoughts otherwise I lose the idea forever in the either. "Life is busy so stay awake for it!" (Caribou coffee napkin).
OK so here is my page I did with my cool new stamp I made. Tip: My stamped image didn't turn out so well but now that I have used it a bit it is taking the ink much better. I am taking an art journal class that is inspiring me to journal everyday even for a little. The color was an example from the class-take color wash spray from Ranger & spritz the edge, spray with water & let it run holding the book up. Creates a nice watercolor effect. Now go create!
